The richness of the past and a vision for the future is what drives our school to success. Here is what some of our parents have to say....

We are parents who have been associated with Cathedral Academy at Pompei through sending our three children here for over a 16 year time period. There has never been a moment that we did not feel that our children were getting the best education possible – academically and spiritually. The class size being smaller lends itself to a tighter relationship between teacher and student with a more intense learning atmosphere for which no one gets lost. We are surrounded by families who have made a similar commitment to private school /catholic education, which has provided a sense of security encouraging our children to feel more confident in their own abilities. In addition, this parental connection drives an extended family environment for which we are all proud to boast about rather than a feeling – it’s just a school. If I can sum up how I feel today and for the future – it’s worth the sacrifices we made over the years and we don’t’ regret it. My boys are proud to say they attend(ed) Cathedral Academy at Pompei, what more could we ask for.

"Our Lady of Pompei has been an educational gem is our community for generations, and it continues to provide a powerful educational experience for children in its current incarnation as Cathedral Academy at Pompei. The combination of a high quality education, wholesome fun and profound spiritual underpinnings make for a transformational learning environment. This school is probably the best kept secret in Syracuse and it deserves our support and attention."

Linda LeMura-Tanner (Class of 1974),
Provost and VP of Academic Affairs at LeMoyne College,
Daughter: Emily (Class of 2006)

As alumni of Our Lady of Pompei School it was never a question as to where our children would attend elementary school. The teachers and staff are second to none. Both of our daughters received a quality education in a nurturing and loving atmosphere. Our children not only gained an education that made their transition to high school very easy, they formed friendships that have extended beyond the classroom. We are all very grateful to all the teachers who played such an important part of our children’s education.

As a parent of two children, one who has graduated from CAP and is currently enrolled in the honors program at Henninger High School, and the other a current sixth grade student, I find CAP to be not only a wonderful school but also a diverse school community. The academic standards are extremely high and both my children are very well prepared for the higher grades. We enjoy a close relationship with LeMoyne College, which brings many mentors and volunteers into our school to enrich our classes. There are at least 20 different countries represented within our school, which is incredible for all the students and their families. CAP truly is teaching our children globally. I would recommend CAP to every family I know!!!!!

Our 11 years of educational experience as a family at Pompei was very rewarding. Our three children received a great education along with developing many wonderful friendships that are still strong today. Each of them were well prepared both academically and socially allowing them to adapt to their Junior High School. We have so many happy memories of Pompei that we will cherish for a long time.

Our daughter entered Cathedral Academy at Pompei it’s first year, where people might have concerns about two schools coming together and the bumps it might cause, we have been nothing but happy. CAP offers our children a warm and nurturing atmosphere where children are children and celebrated for what makes them the same as well as for what makes them different. The strong academic programs in the school are continuously enhanced by volunteers from LeMoyne College and the community. Our son entered kindergarten this year and we have a one year old daughter as well, we look forward to many happy years at CAP and applaud all that is being done to make our children’s school experience the most memorable and wonderful that it can be.

My mom went to Pompei, I went to Pompei and both of my children attended and graduated from Pompei...the experience was positive, the friendships made were lasting and they were more than prepared to go on to junior high and high school...I would recommend Pompei to anyone looking for MORE than just a good education.

Our three sons, Ryan (’99), Sean (’02) and Casey (’05) are all alumni of Our Lady of Pompei School. There is one word that comes to mind when we think of our kids’ years at OLP, and that is “FAMILY”. There was a sense of community that was felt from the moment we walked through the front doors. Our children were well prepared academically, but their memories of school focus around their relationships with other students and they still maintain contact with many of their classmates. We will always remember our time at OLP with warmth and affection. Go Tigers!

We have 3 boys all of which have graduated from or is still attending OLP. 2 have graduated (Class's 1998 & 2000). Our 3rd is still attending and in the 5th grade. Our older boys went onto CBA and LeMoyne College where Administrators from both institutions have spoken out on the impressive preparation OLP provides. These testimonials combined with the knowledge of how our children adapted to and performed at both CBA and LeMoyne is our assurance of the Academic product. But our expectations for schooling go beyond academics and that is why we chose and Love OLP. We wanted a school that reinforced what we taught at home...in God, in Family and in Tradition. The manner in which families and staff enjoy working together for the benefit of all is an example to our children of strong work ethics and camaraderie. The sharing of work and play is fantastic. The warm loving atmosphere in which they are surrounded from the staff and other families have given our family many wonderful years and a lifetime of memories and friendships. "Once a Pompeian, Always a Pompeian".

I had the privilege of being affiliated with Our Lady of Pompei School for 25 years and then Cathedral Academy at Pompei for 2 years. I arrived as a substitute teacher in my mid 20’s and left in my early 50’s a different person. As a young person I found that Pompei held the same traditions and family values that I was raised. My mother was born on Prospect Ave. and many of my family members were affiliated with Our Lady of Pompei.
When you mention Our Lady of Pompei School you immediately think of family. Everyone knows everyone else and even if you are new to the school you become part of the family immediately. I was married at Pompei, my son Christopher is a graduate of Pompei, and he also received his sacraments there and my late husband Ron is fondly remembered as the “Pompei Doorman”. The academic foundation my son Chris received was second to none. He is now a freshman in college and doing very well.
I have now moved on the Rome Catholic as Principal. I still maintain my connection to Pompei as a supporter of the Parish and CAP School. "Once a Pompeian, always a Pompeian".
