Champagne Brunch at Attilios Honors Le Moyne College with the North Side Community Outreach Award

Our recent North Side Community Outreach Award Brunch was a grand success!  Le Moyne College certainly deserved the honor.  Cathedral Academy at Pompei and Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Parish are grateful that this Jesuit College, has contributed to sustaining and developing our school on the North Side of Syracuse, since 2006.  The College’s generosity has allowed CAP to become a community center that serves families new to the United States and families looking for an excellent international educational experience in the Roman Catholic Tradition.  The help and guidance of Le Moyne College professional educators, administrators, students, and numerous other college resources have been invaluable in the creation of many significant programs at the school.

Attilio’s Restaurant proved to be a special place for meeting and mixing with those who care deeply about our educational gem on the North Side.  Cathedral Academy at Pompei has become a unique urban school experience for all families interested in a global education that integrates the spiritual with the academic.

South Sudanese Sponsored Fundraiser for

Cathedral Academy at Pompei

Cathedral Academy at Pompei families from South Sudan created their first fundraiser. The planned the food and fun for Saturday, January 14, 2012, 5:30-8:30pm, at the St. Peter Parish Center on Willow Street. They met on Saturdays from October to January, the only time they were free from their jobs. They hoped and prayed for active participation in this new venture and were pleased with the successful results.

The African food was delicious and the macaroni and cheese along with Italian dishes made by CAP teachers brought an international flavor to the event. They raffled a flat screen TV, won by Sister Frances of the Franciscan Missionary Sisters. The traditional dances and singing were unforgettable too. A major highlight of the evening was the presentation of honors to special guests who have given their time and talents to the South Sudanese.

The success of this event has inspired the South Sudanese Families to organize another event for the school during the summer.
